- Google ranks local results mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. You cannot move your building, but you control relevance and most of prominence.
- Reviews decide the click. 68% of consumers will only use a business rated four stars or higher.
- Replies count. 80% of consumers are likely to use a business that responds to all of its reviews, versus 45% if it replies only to positive ones.
- Q&A is gone. Google removed the Q&A section, so answers now belong in your services, description and website.
- Apple Maps is a separate profile. Claim it, or iPhone users see whatever Apple scraped.

Why does a medspa Google Business Profile matter for local SEO?
Your profile is the first thing a prospect sees when she searches "medspa near me" or "Botox in Orlando." Google says local results are "mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity," and that there is no way to pay for a better local ranking.
Relevance is how well your profile matches the search. Prominence is how well known you are, which reviews and consistent listings feed directly.
What a weak profile costs you
- She searches "lip filler" on a Saturday night. Your profile lists one generic service, so a competitor with "Lip filler" on its menu shows up instead.
- She finds you, taps "Book," and lands on your homepage. Three taps later she gives up.
- She reads your last review from eight months ago, with no reply, and picks the spa with a reply on every one.
- She asks Siri for directions and Apple Maps sends her to your old suite with last year's hours.
None of those show up in your reports. They're just clients who never called.
Clients slip away at five moments: Get Seen, Always On, Easy to Buy, Show Up and Come Back. Your profile owns Get Seen and shapes the next two.
A complete profile with a direct booking link turns a search into an appointment without a single phone call. That's why profile work is the first step in our medspa marketing system and every SEO retainer.
The 2026 medspa Google Business Profile checklist
Work through these in order. Each one tells you what to do and why it matters.
-
Verify the profile and own the login
Verify the business and make sure the owner, not a former agency or employee, holds primary ownership on a company account.
Why it matters: Google lists verification first in its local ranking tips, and you must be verified to reply to reviews.
-
Use your real business name, nothing more
Match the name on your signage. Don't add "Botox," "Best Medspa" or your city to the name field.
Why it matters: Google's guidelines say your name "should reflect your business's real-world name" and ban marketing taglines in it. Keyword stuffing risks suspension.
-
Set the primary category, then add only what is true
For most practices, Medical spa is the right primary category. Add secondary categories only for services that are a real part of the business, such as a skin care clinic or laser hair removal.
Why it matters: Google says to "use as few categories as possible" and to choose ones "as specific as possible." Category is a core relevance signal.
-
List every treatment as a service, by its real name
Add neurotoxin injections, dermal fillers, microneedling, chemical peels, laser hair removal, body contouring and facials as separate services, each with a short plain description and a starting price if you publish one.
Why it matters: Google lets you add suggested and custom services with descriptions and prices. Specific treatment names match the specific searches buyers type.
Keep prices and phone numbers out of the service name itself.
-
Write a description that says who, what and where
State what you treat, who your providers are, where you are and who you serve. Write it the way a client would describe you to a friend.
Why it matters: AI assistants and searchers both read it. Google's guidelines allow no links of any type in the description, so put the booking link in its own field.
-
Upload real photos and short videos
Logo, cover, exterior, entrance, reception, treatment rooms, team and providers at work. Refresh monthly.
Why it matters: Google recommends adding photos and videos to improve ranking. Its photo specs are JPG or PNG, 10 KB to 5 MB, 720 by 720 pixels recommended, with no heavy filters, because "the image should represent reality."
Get written consent before posting any client image.
-
Keep hours exact, including special hours
Set regular hours, add special hours before every holiday and closure, and use "more hours" if consultations or injectables run on a different schedule.
Why it matters: Google supports regular, special and more hours. A client who drives to a closed door doesn't come back, and she may leave a review about it.
-
Add a direct booking link
Point the appointment link straight to your online booking page, not your homepage. Use a supported booking provider through Reserve with Google or add your own link, and tag your link so bookings show up in your analytics.
Why it matters: Every extra click between the profile and the calendar loses bookings. This is where Get Seen becomes Easy to Buy. Google notes it does not provide performance data for custom links, so tracking is on you.
If the booking page itself is slow on a phone, fix that next with a faster site.
-
Replace Q&A with answers you control
Google removed the Q&A section from Business Profiles and is replacing it with an AI-powered Ask feature in the Google Maps app.
Put answers to the questions you hear most (pricing, downtime, who performs injections, parking) in your services, description, posts and website FAQ.
Why it matters: Whitespark's January 2026 analysis confirms the old Q&A is gone. Buyers still have the same questions. If the answers aren't on your profile and site, they go to a competitor who answers them.
-
Ask for reviews every week and reply to all of them
Send a review request link by text after every visit. Reply to every review, positive and negative, within a few days.
Never confirm that the reviewer is a patient or mention a treatment they received.
Why it matters: In BrightLocal's 2026 survey, 80% of consumers are likely to use a business that responds to all reviews, against 45% when it replies only to positive ones, and 68% only use businesses rated four stars or more.
Google's policy prohibits offering "payment, discounts, free goods and/or services" for reviews and selectively soliciting positive ones.
On privacy: HHS settled with a dental practice for $23,000 after it disclosed patient information while responding to online reviews.
-
Post weekly
Use updates for new treatments and provider news, offers for seasonal packages and events for open houses, each with a booking button.
Why it matters: Google says posts share "announcements, offers, updates and event details directly with your customers" on Search and Maps.
-
Fill in every attribute that applies
Accessibility, payment options, appointment requirements and identity attributes such as women-owned, if they are true for you.
Why it matters: Google says attributes appear across Search and Maps and certain ones may help your business appear in searches for places with those features.
-
Make name, address and phone identical everywhere
Your website footer, directories, social profiles and booking platform should show the same name, address and phone (NAP), in the same format.
Why it matters: Conflicting listings weaken the trust signals behind prominence and send clients to old numbers. Google's guidelines also require "a precise, accurate address."
-
Claim Apple Maps too
Claim your place card in Apple Business Connect and copy over your photos, logo, hours and booking link. Use Showcases for seasonal offers.
Why it matters: Apple says Business Connect is free and controls how your business appears in Apple Maps, Messages, Wallet, Siri and other apps. Our Apple Maps optimization handles it alongside Google.
How often should a medspa update its Google Business Profile?
| Cadence | Task |
|---|---|
| Every visit | Send a review request |
| Weekly | Publish a post, reply to every new review |
| Monthly | Add new photos, check that the booking link works, review calls and booking clicks |
| Quarterly | Audit categories, services, prices, attributes and NAP across listings and Apple Maps |
| Before holidays | Set special hours |
Edits aren't instant. Google says edits usually take about 10 minutes to review but can take up to 30 days, so plan holiday hours early.
What are the most common med spa GBP optimization mistakes?
- Keywords in the business name. A short-term bump that can end in suspension.
- One generic "Medspa services" entry instead of every treatment listed by name.
- A booking link to the homepage, which adds clicks and loses bookings.
- Reviews in bursts, then nothing for months. Recency matters to buyers.
- Discounts for reviews, which Google's policy prohibits.
- Review replies that confirm treatment details, a privacy risk.
- Ignoring Apple Maps, leaving iPhone users with outdated hours and photos.
