Film, Series & Documentary Marketing

You spent years making your vision real. Will anyone actually see it?

Most projects never earn their investment back. The premiere becomes an expensive birthday party, because marketing started too late, or not at all. KamKal Marketing & Media builds a strategy that fits your project and your audience.

Our approach

Audience first. Release second.

A great film with no audience is a launch into silence. We treat marketing as a discipline that starts early and scales with the project, not a burst of promotion bolted on at the end. The same framework applies whether you are releasing a feature, an episodic series, or a documentary. Scope and spend are scaled to your budget, goals, and release strategy. Starting earlier gives us more runway, but there is real upside whether you are in development, deep in post, or already in release.

Build the audience early

We establish positioning and grow an owned audience and email list before release, so launch day has somewhere to land.

Drive momentum to release

Consistent content, paid media, and retargeting build velocity and data on a clear runway toward your release window.

Monetize & extend the IP

Funnels, distribution-ready data, and long-term brand value turn attention into revenue and future opportunities.

Sound familiar?

Six patterns we see in nearly every film marketing plan we review.

The specifics differ by project. The patterns do not. Book a strategy session and we will tell you which ones apply to yours.

Marketing does not start until the project is finished, so the release launches to a cold audience.

There is no owned audience or email list, so every release depends on borrowed reach from platforms and press.

The plan relies on festival selection or a streaming deal alone, with no audience-building underneath it.

Content is being produced with no funnel, no email capture, and no way to convert viewers into fans.

Paid advertising is an afterthought, with no testing, targeting, or retargeting strategy behind it.

There is no audience data to show distributors, platforms, or investors that the project has a market.

Sizing the budget

How to size your film marketing budget.

01

Start with production value

Begin with the total production value of the film or season, excluding marketing. That number anchors everything else.

02

Allocate 10 to 20 percent

A common industry guideline is 10 to 20 percent of production value toward a meaningful marketing phase. Aggressive revenue goals justify more.

03

Phase the spend

Marketing works best applied in phases, foundation, momentum, optimization, and extension, not spread evenly across the lifecycle.

Who these programs are for

For filmmakers who treat marketing as part of the project.

We work across formats and stages. If you are building toward a release and want an audience waiting for it, this is for you.

Independent filmmakers

You are producing a feature and want an audience and momentum in place before release, not after.

Series & streaming creators

You need early momentum and data-led pacing across episodes and seasons.

Documentary filmmakers

You need relevance, community-building, and well-timed outreach around your subject and partners.

Producers & distributors

You need polished, market-ready projects with audience data that supports distribution and monetization.

Common questions

Before you book.

When should we start marketing our film or series?

Earlier than most teams think. Our programs work best when they begin before or during production, so there is an audience and momentum in place by the time you release instead of starting from zero. That said, it is rarely too late. If you are in post, weeks from release, or already out, we focus on the levers that still move results: launch optimization, paid media, audience reactivation, and extending your film's life and revenue after release.

What is included in each program?

Every tier includes KamKal strategy, execution, and paid advertising management. Scope scales by tier across funnels, content direction, retargeting, automation, influencer strategy, and reporting.

Do you manage the ad spend?

Yes. Paid advertising management is included in every program, and ad spend is allocated within your quarterly budget. Additional spend can be added with 14 days notice.

What formats do you work with?

Independent films, episodic and streaming series, and documentaries. Budgets and phasing are planned differently for each because they behave differently in the marketplace.

How do we set the right budget?

A common industry guideline is 10 to 20 percent of production value for a meaningful marketing phase. Teams with aggressive revenue goals often invest more. We help you size and phase it on the call.

Are programs billed monthly or quarterly?

Programs are billed quarterly. Payment flexibility is available when engagement begins before the start of production.
